We’re proud to present the Melbourne premiere of the brand-new Broadway JR. musical Disney's Dare to Dream!
Disney’s Dare to Dream JR. is a musical revue that follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio.
As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible. Drawing from a century of beloved Disney films, Dare to Dream JR. features songs appearing for the first time ever in a Disney stage musical, including fan-favorites from The Princess and the Frog, Coco, Encanto, Frozen II and many more. This musical revue is a thrilling mix of contemporary songs, timeless classics, and brand-new medleys that are sure to delight Disney lovers of all ages. Dare to Dream JR. turns a century of Disney magic into a theatrical celebration of music, creativity, and the dreams that live inside us all.

In this hilarious and heartwarming production, beauty truly is in the eye of the ogre. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the beloved Broadway musical, Shrek The Musical JR. takes audiences on an adventure with everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, and a cast of fairytale misfits. Together, they set out to rescue a princess and discover that true acceptance comes from celebrates uniqueness, reminding us that our differences make us special. With its memorable songs, unforgettable characters and an empowering message, Shrek The Musical JR. proves that it’s a "big bright beautiful world" when we celebrate our individuality.

Melbourne Kids Theatre
Melbourne Kids Theatre has an all inclusive policy. Performers have guaranteed place upon enrolment and payment of show fees. People of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome to perform in our shows. Auditions take place in order to cast performers in specific roles. These will be offered based on merit, suitability for the role and willingness to put in hard work and commitment. The creative team’s casting decisions are final. Rehearsals are in an intensive style format over one week. Performers are expected to arrive at the first rehearsal with the lines learned and be familiar with the song lyrics. Performers are required to attend all rehearsals given the short rehearsal time frame.

Junior Show - Rehearsals - July 5th–10th– St Martins church, South Yarra (full day rehearsals)
Shows – July 11th at The Skydeck Theatre @ The Space Dance and Arts Centre - (timings to be advised)
Senior Show - Rehearsals - July 12th–17th - The Gasworks Arts Park Studio Theatre in Albert Park (full day rehearsals)
Shows - July 18th and 19th at The Gasworks Arts Park Studio Theatre - (timings to be advised)

*Perform in a full scale musical theatre Licensed by Music Theatre International
*More than 45 hours of coaching and rehearsals run by industry professionals
*Perform in 2-4 shows
*Show Headshots for the show program
*Professional photos taken of the show
*Professionally filmed show video
*A souvenir show T-shirt
*Costumes provided (base clothes and shoes to be provided by the performer)

Junior Theatre Celebration 2025 – Save the Date!
We’re thrilled to announce our participation in the 2nd Junior Theatre Celebration in Melbourne on August 2nd, 2025!
Our performers will showcase a 15-minute selection from one of our July or January shows and participate in workshops with industry professionals and be coached and adjudicated on their performance. It’s an amazing day filled with all things theatre along with almost a thousand theatre kids all in the one place.
This amazing opportunity is open to past Melbourne Kids Theatre performers and any new performers joining us this July!
